LILY ALLEN SAYS AUDIENCE WAS NOT BORED

Lily's Friends On Chat Show Leave Early

Responding to reports that some members of the audience left early at the recording of her new show on BBC Three, Lily Allen And Friends, Lily said, "Due to it being the FIRST show we've done, we ran over a little," she wrote. "Naturally a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever they came from."

Ms Allen was happy with the recording stating, "My TV show recording went really well on Friday. I was shitting it but I'm really happy with the results.

"Our guests, Cuba Gooding Junior and David Mitchell, were fabulous, and the audience were great too. Standing in a hot studio for two hours watching me fluff my lines is not my idea of fun, but they seemed to enjoy it."

The show itself was much better than anticipated. It started out as expected – raucous audience – the cameras jerking and power-panning through 360 degrees. It was like watching Channel 4 in the eighties. Imagine The Tube – but with less planning!

Then a funny thing happened, the cameras settled down and Lily took control like an old pro (I mean that in the nicest possible way).

The thing is, I found myself reacting to her show in the same way I reacted to her album; I should hate everything about it – but don't. If you watch the chat show and accept it for what it is then it works. Hats off to Lily for not falling into the obvious trap and taking it too seriously. Check it out.
