NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK – ANOTHER REUNION?

NKOTB The Threat Of A Reunion Seems Imminent

The rumours have been circling for some time but we kept smiling nervously – putting it to the back of our minds hoping it was media speculation. We directed our thoughts to issues that weren’t nearly as horrifying – MRSA – international terrorism – that sort of thing.

Sadly though, our head in the sand approach appears to have been in vain as it seems that New Kids On The Block are looking set to get back together.

While conjecture of the reunion has been rebutted by denials, the final nail in the coffin of hope comes in the form of a new video on the NKOTB website. An article in People Magazine remarks:

The song (its name isn't revealed) plays over a promotional video for the band that says the Kids once had it all – $1 billion in album sales, millions of fans, with music that "influenced a generation" – but then "walked away from it all." The video next teases the comeback, asking: "Are you ready?"

A few issues with this I’m afraid.

Firstly, "influenced a generation". Are we talking about The Beatles? – Led Zeppelin? – Nirvana? Hardly.

Secondly, "walked away from it all". Yeah OK. Only once their first flush of fans hit puberty and realized that if they put their pocket money directly down a toilet then they could avoid having to listen to garbage.

And finally, "Are you ready?”. What could possibly make you ready for this? Prozac? Some kind of inner ear infection that renders you deaf? Actually, I don’t believe that anything could get me ready for this.

After The Spice Girls came back with Headlice, I didn’t think it could get any worse.

How wrong I was.
